About Us

Oasis Skate Camps was founded by Paul Estrada and Mike Johnston in 2026. We offer week long summer day skate camps that infuse skateboarding, physical fitness and art & design.

As lifelong skaterboarders, artists and educators, we know first hand how transformative skateboarding, play, community and fresh air can be.  Our mission is to give skateboarders of all abilities and levels the structure and nurture to skate in a safe and playful space.

Located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, a community with deep roots in skateboarding, each camp features a visiting local professional skateboarder who will lead a specialized one-day clinics. By connecting campers with some of the area’s most talented skaters, we hope to inspire the next generation to grow their skills and carry Chapel Hill’s skateboarding legacy forward.

Along with mixed level skateboard instruction, campers will explore skate-inspired art & design projects such as making custom skateboard deck graphics and t - shirts.

We’re excited to host Oasis Skate Camps at Homestead Skatepark in collaboration with Manifest Skate Shop Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation!

Paul Estrada

Paul got his first skateboard when he was seven from a Los Angeles Toys “R” Us. By the late 1980’s this activity grew into a a full blown obsession. Not only did he find it a fun unique sport, but one that is a vehicle of artistic expression built around an creative, diverse and eclectic community seeking something outside the realm of traditional organized team sports. For years he has managed skateparks, run skate camps and in the 1990’s had a skate shop ran out of his family’s garage!

When he is not skateboarding he works as a dedicated and passionate visual art teacher at Chapel Hill High School (Chapel Hill, North Carolina), enjoys making time for his own art practice, music, riding his bike, and spending time with friends.

Mike Johnston

I was born in Durham, NC and have been skating for 26 years. I own Manifest Skate Shop and also work as a registered nurse. I love skateboarding and am excited to share it with the next generation!
